At this point, they’re only capable of building single story walls, however technology has been improving and is indicating the possibility for more robust builds in the coming years. The walls laid are 8 inches thick, provide 5 inches for insulation, and are as tall as 10-12 feet.
In certain applications, roughly 40% of the build is coming from robots, while the remaining 60% is human labor including tasks such as plumbing, trim, electric, and other finishes. These houses are quite basic as they stand today, but improvements have already been seen in the 3D printing construction niche. There are hopes to be able to build three-story homes in the near future.

However, the drawback is the limited capabilities of customization as it stands today.

With the benefits outlined above, it’s likely that 3D printing will find its way into the construction industry more as the years progress. However, at this point, it’s a tool to assist, not necessarily replace human labor. As technology advances, it can assist in the process, but the hands-on aspect of construction isn’t going anywhere for now. It’s likely that certain functions will include 3D printing methods, but to complete the process of a home, there are many more steps yet to be performed by robots.
